Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the OPP have recently collected money for a Wasaga Beach resident who fell on tough times.
Police say Pauline Purkis used to collect empty beer cans and store them in the bed of her pick-up truck, but it was recently stolen with over 22-hundred cans she collected throughout the year.
She had planned to use the money so that she and her husband could afford to buy Christmas gifts for their grandchildren and when officers found out, they managed to raise 174 dollars for Ms. Purkis, which was handed over to her this week.
“It’s times like this, especially given the current pandemic climate, that we all need to be there for one another and support one another. I am proud of the thoughtfulness and initiative of the hard-working men and women from our Detachment who collected for Ms. Purkis in a time of need.”-A/Inspector Terry Ward, Interim Detachment Commander, Huronia West Detachment
