OPP have arrested a suspect in connection to three church fires at Saugeen First Nation this morning.
OPP and about 40 firefighters responded to the call after 1:30 this morning, first to the Wesley United Church on Highway 21 and then to the Church of Jesus Christ followed by the Saugeen Fellowship Baptist Church.
The Wesley United Church by the amphitheatre is reportedly heavily damaged, but still stands.
Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says the second and third churches were not as heavily damaged, but tells Bayshore Broadcasting News community members are distraught by the damage to their churches.
The Ontario Fire Marshall and OPP are on scene, and OPP say they arrested one person at 4:30 this morning, but have not given further details about the arrest.
There are no reported injuries due to any of the fires.
At last check, OPP still had Highway 21 closed from Kewageshig Street to Christine Street.
