Saugeen Shores Police Chief Mike Bellai has stepped down.
The Town issued a news released Friday saying the Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Services Board has accepted Bellai’s resignation, effective immediately.
According to the release, Bellai intends to retire from policing.
Deputy Chief Kevin Zettel has accepted the role of Acting Chief.
The Saugeen Shores Police Services Board is currently reviewing next steps as it looks towards the recruitment process, a release from the Town explains.
“The Town of Saugeen Shores will fully support the Police Services Board at this time and throughout the recruitment of a new chief,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau in a prepared statement. “I’d like to thank the former Chief for his contributions to our community.”
