GO Transit rail service will return between Union Station and Barrie this fall.
Starting Sept. 8, GO train service on the Barrie line will return to operate hourly in both directions between Aurora and Union Station all day all week long – with some trips extended to serve more stations along the line during peak periods.
The first morning southbound train from Allandale Waterfront GO and Barrie South GO will now begin in Bradford GO. GO bus options are available for those wishing to travel southbound early in the morning.
There will also be a new late-night southbound trip option from Allandale Waterfront GO at 9:08 p.m., arriving at Union Station at 10:48 p.m., and a new northbound trip from Union at 9:53 p.m., arriving at Allandale Waterfront GO at 11:34 p.m. on weekdays.
Train times and connecting bus trip times have been adjusted so be sure to check your schedules.
Starting Saturday, September 12, weekend trains return on the Barrie line to give you the flexibility for weekend getaways. Train times are different from before and there will be hourly service between Aurora GO and Union Station, with some trips extending to Allandale Waterfront GO. Service for GO bus routes 63, 65 and 68 will be adjusted and reduced to align with the adjusted train schedules.
Short platform at Rutherford GO
The north half of your platform will be closed, so we can build you a second track and platform as part of GO Expansion. This will mean some temporary changes to how you get on the GO until this work is complete in 2021. Click here to find more information about station improvements at Rutherford GO.
Trains on the Barrie line continue to be six cars long. Please look down the platform when the train approaches as you may need to adjust where you’re waiting. Be sure to use all available doors to board and listen for station announcements.
Platform changes at Union Station
Starting Tuesday, September 8, all afternoon rush hour Barrie line trips will depart from platforms 9 and 10 at Union Station to accommodate changing trips and help improve the flow of trains through the station.
Platforms can change at any time. Always check the departure board before heading up to the platform.
