Southampton Hospital has a high priority need for nursing education. Hospital operating budget constraints only permit the minimum required training opportunities.
The Carolyn Frances Mack Nursing Education Fund was established in November, 2009 to assist Nurses with education and training in Palliative, Cardiac Care and Clinical Technology as well as Leadership.
Carolyn Mack (nee Helwig) was Team Leader of inpatient medical and surgical units as well as Clinical Supervisor at Southampton Hospital. She passed away in 2008 after a courageous struggle.
Carolyn was a progressive person who was proud of her training and accomplishments. The Fund is a wonderful tribute to her memory. Opportunities created for education and training through a Fund in Carolyn’s honour have been enthusiastically welcomed by the nursing team in Southampton.
Many in-memoriam donations were received when Carolyn passed away. Her husband Bob Mack and the Motz Family Foundation created the Carolyn Fund. Contributions to the fund support education and training for nurses at Southampton hospital.
In just 2 years, the Fund has already provided $9,000 in support of nursing education. Sixteen nurses and countless patients have benefitted from the gift of knowledge so far.
Thank you for helping to keep healthcare close to home!
