Grey Bruce OPP have identified the victim in a homicide investigation underway in Southgate.
Police say on December 24th, 2019, human remains were found in the area of Southgate Road 10, east of Highway 6 in the Township of Southgate.
Following a forensic examination, the deceased has been identified as Monica Chisar of Hamilton.
Police say investigators have determined Chisar died as a result of homicide.
The Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), continue to investigate this homicide with the assistance of the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit.
OPP say Chisar was last seen in Hamilton on July 11th, 2018 and was reported missing by her family in September 2018.
OPP say she had been dropped off in a parking lot at Barton Street East and Parkdale Avenue North, just after midnight. They note, she was known to spend time in the Greater Toronto Area, Kitchener and Hamilton.
