A decorated war veteran in our area has received a prestigious new title.
Major-General Richard Rohmer of Collingwood has been given the honorary rank of Lieutenant-General.
Chief of the Defence Staff, General Tom Lawson says the title is to recognize Rohmer’s unparalleled record of service to the country.
Rohmer is a World War Two veteran with decades of service in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was promoted to the rank of Major-General in 1978 and retired in 1981.
General Lawson says in the news release, “I am absolutely delighted to announce that my Honorary Advisor, Richard Rohmer, has been granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant-General.
