While it's somewhat of a cluster-fiasco, this weekend has the potential to be a great sports weekend.
The MLS Is Back Tournament continues with a quarterfinal match tonight as Philadelphia Union goes against Sporting KC.
Smooth wouldn't be the best word to describe this concept, not with 2 clubs bowing out at the get-go, but we're down to the Final 8, and even without Canadian content as Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver were all eliminated fairly early, it's been interesting to watch.
Truthfully, I've paid more attention to MLS in the last 2 weeks than I did over the previous two decades.
Speaking of boondoggles, we've got Major League Baseball tonight as the Toronto Blue Jays " host " the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Jays are the " home " team, but the game will be contested at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
We all know the Blue Jays bouncing location scenario from Rogers Centre to Dunedin to Pittsburgh to Baltimore and finally Buffalo. And even at that, they'll be hosting the Phillies in the Phillies ball park tonight.
The Phillies for their part are returning to action after games this week against the Yankees were postponed.
It's too complex to go through the entire sequence, so suffice it to say, a good percentage of the Florida Marlins tested positive for coronavirus and that upended the MLB schedule for 4 different organizations.
And with tomorrow being August 1st with a projected high of 26 degrees, it's nice to know the Stanley Cup Playoffs with their piped in crowd audio will feature 5 games.
Sportswise or otherwise, have a great weekend.
