Dream of Glory Elims + GAO U19

Fred

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

We mentioned yesterday that Hanover Raceway has the " Dream of Glory " Eliminations tomorrow afternoon.

I've always felt the Eliminations are the most competitive night of the year at Hanover as the horses and drivers compete for a spot in the final on August 1st.

There are 3 divisions of the " Dream of Glory " Eliminations tomorrow which means 21 horses will be vying for one of the 8 spots available in the $ 60,000 Final.

Post time tomorrow at Hanover Raceway is 2 pm

Meanwhile, looking ahead to Monday, Saugeen Golf Club will host the Golf Association of Ontario Under 19 Boys Championship.

With no National Championships this year, that means the Provincial event will attract an extremely deep field of players.

For the opening 2 days there will be 114 players. That field will be cut to 42 for the final 2 days of the 4 days event.

The Juniors will be playing from the back tees at Saugeen and will compete on the Legacy and Sunrise 9's.

The event is supervised by the GAO and the belief is the pin placements won't be particularly easy.

For Saugeen Golf Club, they're hosting this prestigious championship in what is their 95th year of operation. Could this be a preview of an even bigger event with their 100th anniversary not that far away ?

General Manager Brad Young relates nothing is official, but the club would love to host a major event in 2025.

Starting Monday, in Year 95, the Ontario U19 is at Saugeen Golf Club

Have a great weekend.

I'm Fred Wallace
