Bench Talk / Off The Wire

Post Time & The Wall

Fred

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The local sporting scene takes a significant step forward tomorrow with the opening card at Hanover Raceway.

Two very quick reminders as it pertains to opening day and the season ahead at Hanover;

One, the new post time for 2020 is now 2 pm.

& 2, at the moment, and I'd suggest quite likely for the entire 2020 season, NO spectators are allowed at the track.

However, fans can watch the races on a variety of social media platforms including hanoverraceway.com, on the Hanover Raceway Youtube Channel & on their Facebook Live page.

Plus, wagering for Hanover Raceway is also being conducted through the online site www.hpibet.com

Now, looking a little further ahead, the Kincardine Sports Wall of Fame announced 8 new members this week.

The names of many of the members are very familiar and the stories of those not-as-familiar to me are eye-opening and fascinating.

Alphabetically, Jim Bell, Keith Davidson, Hannah Davidson, Earl Farrell, Kirsten Grohs, Lisa (Nicholson) Holtby Frank Pearce & Clarke Pollock will be added to the Wall, which is located at the Davidson Centre in the community

A banquet to officially welcome the Class of 2020 will be held in the Fall, although no specific date has been established which is understandable since almost every function we know of in every community we know of is in limbo.....except perhaps the start of the harness racing season at Hanover Raceway tomorrow afternoon.

Have a great weekend.

I'm Fred Wallace
