Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Technically, it's not golf season, not just yet.
Sure, some of you have been sequestered in front of your TV sets watching the various 2020 events in warmer climates.
And sure, some others have actually departed for warmer environments to get some swings in and a head start on the local season.
But again, in these parts golf season is a few days away.
Having said that, planning for golf season is well underway.
One example is Saugeen Golf Club.
Effective today, Brad Young is the new General Manager at Saugeen assuming the large undertaking of a 27 hole facility with all kinds of dining, hosting and entertainment options.
Young most recently of Richmond Hill has a wide experience in golf course management in both southern Ontario and Manitoba.
He's been Head Professional at King's Riding Golf Club, plus Director of Operations at both Caledon Country Club and Portage Golf Club.
Meanwhile, the learning curve continues at Sauble Golf & Country with Evan Kilimnik now owning and operating the course.
Kilimnik purchased the course and operation from the previous owners Paul & Ellen Farrow and has spent the winter months overseeing the food, beverage and entertainment options at the facility.
Eventually, the region will warm up and a new day and new era will dawn at Sauble Golf.
Someone once said, there's nothing as perpetual as change at a golf course. Farmers may disagree, but the sentiment is certainly accurate with alterations at Saugeen, Sauble and I'm sure elsewhere in the local golf universe prior to the " official " start of the golf season.
