Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The Owen Sound Attack enter a busy stretch of Ontario Hockey League action tonight when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Tonight's game against the Bulldogs will be followed by a significant divisional matchup at Guelph on Friday, then a home game on Saturday night against Peterborough and finally on Monday afternoon off to Oshawa to face the Generals.
The Attack come into the game tonight against Hamilton riding a 3 game win streak, and a victory over the Bulldogs would represent their second longest win streak of the season which was 5 games back in early October.
In a year in which Western Conference foes like Kitchener, London, Saginaw, Guelph earlier and Flint currently have all manufactured double digit win and point streaks, a 4 game heater seems somewhat tiny, and truthfully has left Owen Sound far behind most of those rivals.
Still, with aspirations of potentially catching a sinking Spitfire team at Windsor for the 5th spot in the Western Conference, Owen Sound needs to consistently put points on the board over their final 18 games.
The perplexing aspect of this Owen Sound team is that they're capable of beating anyone in the West........ and equally incapable of beating anyone in the West,
On the year, Owen Sound has beaten Kitchener twice, and lost to the Rangers 5 times.
They've split with Saginaw.
They've won 2 out of 3 against London
They've beaten Flint and lost to Flint
They defeated Windsor convincingly, but lost previously in overtime at Windsor.
They prevailed over Guelph here and at the Sleeman Centre, and also lost games to the Storm in both venues
They've won 3 out of 4 against Erie
They split 2 games with Sault Ste Marie
And have a 2 & 1 mark against Sarnia
Tonight is the first of 2 meetings for the Attack against Hamilton out of the Eastern Conference, and Owen Sound needs the opening leg of that set to maintain a shot at the Top 5 and also keep 3 teams who are in the derby with them; Guelph, Erie and Sault Ste Marie, somewhat at bay.
Game time tonight is 7 pm
