Bench Talk / Off The Wire

Big Changes, Big Games, Big Events

Fred

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

On Saturday January 4th, the Vegas Golden Knights shaded the St Louis Blues 5-4 in overtime at the T-Mobile Arena in an exciting NHL contest- I was THERE.

The win moved the Golden Knights into 1st place in the Western Conference.

Only 11 days and 4 losses later, Vegas gassed Head Coach Gerard Gallant & his long time assistant Mike Kelly and quickly inserted Peter DeBoer, recently released by San Jose as the new Head Coach of the Knights

Personally, I don't get it, so let's move on.......

Ontario Hockey League tonight, the Owen Sound Attack are at Guelph to meet the Storm in your proverbial 4 pointer.

Guelph has 49 points,

Owen Sound has 44.

A regulation time win by Owen Sound tonight pulls the Attack to within 3 points of the Storm.

A regulation time loss by Owen Sound tonight means the margin become 7 points in Guelph's favor, and if so, catching the Storm would be a longshot in my view.

It's big game & you can hear the action tonight live at 7 pm on 560 CFOS with Terry's Trailer Service-Kia of Owen Sound Bearadio

There's a very big game in the PJHL's Pollock Division tonight

The Mount Forest Patriots are at Wingham to face the Ironmen.

Wingham lead the division with 54 points.

Mount Forest has 53.

And one other note heading to the weekend. Canadian skating legend Elvis Stojko will perform with the Hanover & District Skating Club on Sunday March 8th as part of their annual Carnival.

Showtime is 1 pm at the Hanover P & H Centre.

Tickets are available in the arena lobby, by e-mailing hanoverskatingclub@hotmail.com, by calling 519-364-7494 or at Cuneo's Carpet One in Hanover

Have a great weekend.

I'm Fred Wallace
