Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
It's Hockey Night in Owen Sound as the Attack host the Barrie Colts tonight at the J.D. McArthur Arena in Ontario Hockey League play.
The Attack are coming off their annual Eastern road swing in which they played .500, more or less, accumulating 3 of a possible 6 points against their Eastern Conference foes.
For some, 3 out of 6 ain't bad, but the sense I have from the Attack brass is that the sequence, or the trend, exhibited over the weekend, isn't acceptable.
Against Peterborough, Owen Sound was very thorough and deserved the 5-2 victory.
The next night at Kingston, Owen Sound carried the play and were the better team in my view, but lacked the killer instinct against the Frontenacs who are an exceptionally inexperienced squad and ended up losing in a shootout.
And then Sunday afternoon at Ottawa, with a day off to recover and facing an opponent who had been on the road the night before, Owen Sound unravelled in the 3rd period and lost a sloppy 7-4 verdict
Which brings us to tonight and the new look Colts coming to town.
Barrie was extremely active at the OHL Trade Deadline shipping out a number of high end and experienced players in exchange for a handful of younger players and draft picks to set themselves up for the future.
Should Attack fans expect a victory tonight for Owen Sound over Barrie ?
Well, the Attack team that beat the Petes in Peterborough, should also beat Barrie.
However, the Attack team that lost in a shootout to Kingston might beat Barrie. Or they might not.
But certainly, the Attack team that lost at Ottawa will be hard pressed to get 2 points tonight against the Colts
We'll see which Attack team appears and what transpires tonight at 7 pm
