Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
A busy week in the Ontario Hockey League for the Owen Sound Attack continues tonight when they host the Niagara IceDogs at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Leading into the game there have been a couple of significant events for the Attack.
First, captain Aidan Dudas who's dealing with an upper body injury, earned an invitation to Canada's Selection Camp for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Tournament.
So right there, you've got three items in play.
One, is Dudas healthy enough to play tonight ?
Two, is Dudas healthy enough to be at Oakville Monday for the start of the Canadian Selection Camp ?
And three, if healthy, and if he performs his best, how long will Dudas be away from the Attack ?
Which brings us to the next item in a busy week; the re-acquisition of forward Matthew Struthers.
Struthers, the youngest player to ever score in the Ontario Hockey League for Owen Sound, was returned to Owen Sound from North Bay where he put up big numbers over the last 2 years after being dealt by the Attack to the Battalion just after Christmas in 2017.
Now he's back......
To play with Dudas ?
To add depth to the forward lines behind Dudas ?
To replace Dudas in possible scenario of Dudas departing to Team Canada ?
Or all of the above.
Regardless, with Struthers return and with or without Dudas in the lineup, the Attack are trying to find their way back up the Western Conference ladder.
After snapping a discouraging 7 game losing streak Saturday with an overtime win over Saginaw, Owen Sound gets a Niagara squad tonight that has won their last 2 games and have points in 7 of their last 10 outings.
Game time tonight is 7 pm at the Bayshore.
