Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
There's something to be said for a full day of meaningful baseball.
The Major League Baseball Playoffs had 4 divisional series games yesterday, all of which were elimination affairs.
The only team to get eliminated though was the Minnesota Twins who were dropped 5-1 by the Yankees which pushes New York through to the American League Championship Series.
The other 3 teams facing elimination yesterday all stayed alive with victories.
In Tampa Bay, a Kevin Keirmaier 3 run homer was part of the fireworks as the Rays throttled Houston 10-3 to force a 4th game in the series tonight at Tampa Bay
Diego Castillo will try and keep Tampa Bay alive again while Justin Verlander tries to nail it down for the Astros.
Meanwhile in the National League, both Division Series are going to a 5th & deciding game as the home teams stayed alive with wins yesterday.
In St Louis, the Cardinals survived a back and forth affair as Yadier Molina tied it in the 8th and then won it in the 10th, as St Louis won 5-4 over Atlanta
Game 5 is tomorrow in Atlanta.
And Game 5 in the other series is tomorrow at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers were done in by Max Scherzer and Ryan Zimmerman as Washington won 6-1 to extend that series to a deciding game.
Four meaningful games in baseball yesterday, one more tonight at Tampa Bay and then 2 more climatic games tomorrow in Atlanta & L.A.
