Bench Talk / Off The Wire

Short Term-Long Term

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

A couple of notes today before we grind out ANOTHER CFOS-Hanover Holidays vacation through the province of Quebec.

First, Owen Sound Grey Motors United are on an upswing as they head towards a home & home with Stratford this weekend in the Kitchener & District Soccer League.

Last Sunday at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound, a late goal by Ian Campbell allowed Grey Motors to tie the first place team, Kitchener's First Serbia.

That tie came after a 2-1 victory over the Guelph Gryphons which allowed United to remain unbeaten on home turf.

Currently Owen Sound is 6th in the league standings heading to their series of matches against second place Stratford, so you can see how significant these two contests will be for Owen Sound

Game time for the opener Friday night is 9 pm at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.

Meanwhile, looking a little further down the road, the Knights of Meaford begin their Greater Metro Junior Hockey League season September 17th when they travel to New Tecumseth to face the Civics.

As often is the case for Meaford, the Knights will play their first 4 games on the road before their home opener which is set for Thursday October 17th.

Of note, the Knights primary dates for home games are Thursday nights, but there are a handful of Saturday night home games on the schedule as well this season.

Au revoir.

Je suis, Fred Wallace
