Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
On a weekend with big sports stories in any number of sports; NBA Playoffs, The Leafs, the NHL Playoffs, Minor Hockey, the Women's Hockey debacle; there was no question the # 1 item was The Masters .
As one of the 4 major golf tournaments on the year, The Masters generally doesn't have to fight hard to get air time or newspaper space.
But in the case of the 2019 Masters, people will be talking and writing about it for a long time to come.
Tiger Woods won his 15th career Major & 5th Masters closing with a 2-under 70 for a one-shot victory on the final day.
The story surrounding Woods has always been large and remarkable.
In this instance, he erased a 2 stroke deficit on the back 9 and managed to take the title.
There is some discussion as to whether Woods won The Masters, or whether Francesco Molinari lost it by launching a tee shot into the water on the 12th hole.
That discussion too will exist for years.
Regardless, Woods won for the first time in more than a decade, overcoming personal issues, significant injuries along with the usual demons that afflict golfers.
Some people call it the greatest comeback in sports.
Was it ?
That discussion too will be visited and revisited whenever people talk golf & and the 2019 Masters.
