Bench Talk / Off The Wire

The Magnificent Seven

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "

It's a long way off, or it certainly seems that way, but for the 1st time the District 27 55+ Regional Senior Games will be hosted in Grey & Bruce Counties.

The massive event will be staged on Wednesday August 14th with as many as 600 participants competing in one of more than 50 events.

Those 50+ events & competitions will be hosted in 7 different towns and municipalities in our region; Cargill, Chepstow, Chesley, Hanover, Mildmay, Paisley & Walkerton will all have activities on the go that day.

Among the sports & activities scheduled to go August 14th are Slo Pitch, Cycling, Running, Swimming, Euchre, Scrabble, Shuffleboard & Pickle Ball to name some of the prominent activities.

To compete on August 14th, a participant or team must succeed at both the Local Games and the District Games

The winners from the 9 Provincial Districts will earn the right to compete at the Regional Games on August 14th

Planning for the event is well underway, it started months ago.

Still, the organizing committee could always use additional sponsors & volunteers.

If you'd like to assist, or get more information, contact the Regional Games Chair Dale Steinhoff at 519-353-7202.

Chepstow, Chesley, Hanover, Mildmay, Paisley & Walkerton will be active centres on August 14th with the Regional Senior Games, an event that is coming up in fairly short order.
