Hamilton Reps OHL at Memorial Cup
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The 100th Memorial Cup commences on Friday night in Regina when the host Regina Pats go against the Ontario Hockey League Champion Hamilton Bulldogs.
There are a number of narratives that I could, and will at a later date, get into, but let's be up front and honest- the Hamilton Bulldogs ARE the OHL Champions, winners of the Robertson Cup, and deservingly so.
In a best of 7 Championship Final, Hamilton won 4 times and could make a solid claim that they might have also won Game 4 which was an overtime loss at home which allowed the Greyhounds to tie the series at 2.
From there, there's NO disputing that in Game 5 at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste Marie and then in Game 6 back at F1rstOntario Centre in Hamilton, the Bulldogs were the better team and nobody can deny that they earned their spot as OHL reps at the Memorial Cup.
Somewhere down the road we'll talk about Hot Dogs, life in the Western Conference, the renaissance of Hamilton Hockey and the utter disparity between the two Conferences in the Ontario Hockey League plus other facets and factors of this season.
For now, none of that matters to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Of primary concern to them are Swift Current, Acadie-Bathurst & Regina starting Friday night.
