Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
There's a big hockey game tonight in Meaford that I'm excited to see; the Knights are hosting the Bradford Rattlers tonight at 7:30 at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
The Rattlers are 3rd in the North Division....1 point ahead of the Knights.
Say no more, the opening faceoff is at 7:30 pm.
I want to talk about Meaford today, not the hockey club, but rather the Coyotes.
Last weekend, the Meaford Coyotes were awarded the hosting rights for the 2018 Ontario Minor Track Association Cross Country Championships.
The event will be staged at the Georgian Bay Community School Athletic Field and will also utilize a portion of the Georgian Trail.
The remarkable aspect of the Provincials is that outside of a tiny course modification, the MTA course and the Coyote operation of the event, will be virtually similar to what they have doing on an annual basis for the past 8 years with their Coyote Race.
The course is virtually the same.
The competition is virtually the same in terms of ages and distances.
Plus, the club volunteers are virtually the same, all experienced at conducting a large scale event be it the Coyote Race or the MTA.
So with all of these significant pieces already in place, the priority for the Meaford Coyotes is to make sure their competitors are in tip top running shape for the Provincial Championships in October of 2018.
