Cobble Beach Hopes To Build Pro-Am Fan Base
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire.
The 11th annual Cobble Beach Pro Am was staged Monday under blazing hot conditions- even for Cobble Beach.
It was a great day with a recognizable name in Brian McCann winning the event again and doing so in dramatic fashion.
According to those on the scene McCann wedged in on one hole and then took the crown with an eagle on the 18th, again chipping it in which gave him a 1 stroke victory over 3 others.
So while the weather was exceptional and the level of competition was intense, there was a tinge of regret on the organizers part pertaining to the turnout of spectators.
The Cobble Beach Pro Am is an annual event.
The purse money for the Pros is about as good as it gets for this level of player.
The prize table for the non-pros is top shelf too.
The setting, especially on a hot September day, was perfect.
So the question is, ' what else does Cobble Beach need to do, or what else can Cobble Beach do to attract golf fans to the course for this event ? '
I'm not sure, but if you have an idea, I'm certain they'd love to hear it at Cobble.
I'm Fred Wallace
