Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
One of the neatest days in 2017 to this point for me from a professional standpoint was being the meet announcer for the Georgian Bay Nordic Jack Rabbit Wrap Up Day at Whispering Pines in Hepworth.
The day was active, competitive and most importantly fun filled for everyone on hand.
Competitively, the Georgian Bay Nordic Club has an exceptional role model in Julian Smith who has emerged from the local program and when I spoke to him last week, he was in Canmore, Alberta.
Training is a way of life for Smith who has lofty aspirations of both returning to Canada's Under 23 Nordic team PLUS earning a berth on the National team for the 2018 Olympics.
Smith admits he's seldom " home ", but on Sunday, he will be in the region for the 4th annual Communiski Dinner at Gleason Brook Pottery, which is on the Zion Church Road in Georgian Bluffs.
This is a Family Night, A Bring A Friend Night, an Alumni Night, a Sponsor Thank You Night, a Meet & Greet and much more all designed to assist Julian Smith in his quest to get to the Olympic Games, maybe as soon as next Winter.
For tickets to " Communiski 4 ", call 519-534-3222 or 519-470-2500.
