Junior NorthStars Host Guelph Tonight
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Today we're going to rattle off some local lacrosse news.
First, there's a Junior B game tonight in Owen Sound as the Junior NorthStars host the Guelph Regals in a Mid West Division matchup.
The Junior NorthStars will be looking to pop above the .500 mark for the first time on the year as they come into the game with a record of 6 & 6.
Guelph by comparison is 1 & 9 which includes a 15-6 loss to Owen Sound on April 30th.
Forget the standings and forget the previous matchups, the Junior NorthStars need the 2 points as they pursue a playoff spot for a second straight year.
Game time tonight is 8 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Elsewhere, Brody Caskenette, who periodically plays for the Junior Stars, has been selected for Team Ontario's Midget Box Lacrosse team that will play for the National Championship in August.
Switching to Field Lacrosse, the Owen Sound District Wolves are heading to Brantford next week to compete at the OFSAA Festival.
The Wolves have established a " Go Fund Me " page to assist with the expense of making the trip.
After a somewhat prolonged absence, the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars return to action this weekend with a doubleheader at Ennismore against the James Gang.
The Owen Sound Seniors are 2 & 1 on the year but believe they should be at 3 & 0.
The Senior NorthStars also have issued an invitation to all former NorthStars and Woodsmen to be on hand for their Alumni Day on June 17th
Of course the Alumni Day falls right in the middle of the annual Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse Father's Day Heritage Classic Tournament which runs June 16th-18th.
Through the course of that weekend, 5 arenas in our region will be utilized with Championship Sunday climaxing at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Junior NorthStars and Guelph tonight at 8
