Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
It's a terrific time for curling in the region, province and on the National stage.
The 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is being contested at the Meridian Centre in St Catharines.
To this point at the Canadian Women's Championship, Ontario and Manitoba have been standouts, but let's not count out the defending champion Chelsea Carey and her rink.
Of course, St John's, Newfoundland and the Mile One Centre will host the Tim Horton's Brier March 4th-12th.
In our region, the Bluewater Girls and Boys Curling Championships were staged yesterday at the Port Elgin Curling Club and it was a highly successful day for the Saugeen District Royals.
Both the Lady Royals and the Boys rink won the Championship.
Saugeen District defeated Grey Highlands 9-4 to win the Bluewater Girls title, while the Boys from SDSS defeated the Chesley Cougars to win their event.
And checking the calendar, we're just a month and a day away from a major event at the Chesley Curling Club; the 2017 New Holland Elementary School Curling Championships are set to begin March 23rd.
