Raptors, Leafs & ATTACK
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
As usual, a Friday gives us all kinds of sporting options both at the professional level and the local level.
In the NBA, the Raptors are favored to extend their win streak to 2 games when they host the Brooklyn Nets tonight.
Meanwhile, after a notable break in the schedule, the Toronto Maple Leafs return to action tonight when they visit the New York Rangers.
But no matter where I look these days, I almost always come right back to what's unfolding with the Owen Sound Attack.
First and foremost, a franchise record 11 game win streak will be put on the line tonight when the Attack visit Guelph, ironically in the venue where the streak started.
It's pretty amazing to think that over 27 & 1/2 years with some good , some very good and one championship team, no other Owen Sound entry has done what the Attack are doing.
And while there are plenty of focal points, I'll use 2 here to illustrate what's been going down over the last 5 weeks.
First, in those 11 games, Owen Sound has surrendered 12 goals against.
It's true Michael McNiven has carried the load, but three different netminders have posted wins in the streak.
And finally, over those 11 games, Owen Sound has outscored the opponents by... 45 goals, they've outshot the opposition in every game, and the margin of difference in the shots on goal after those 11 contests......178 more shots for Owen Sound than their rivals.
The Attack shoot for 12 straight tonight at Guelph.
