Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire "
We've virtually come to the end of 2016.
As a project over the last few years, I've made a tiny note on a list to identify what was the major local sports story on each and every working day in the shop.
As I look at the list for the year almost concluded, I see 2nd place finishes for Larisa Yurkiw in skiing and Connor Roberts going to the Youth Olympics at Norway in hockey.
Paisley curler Lori Thomson lost the Senior Ladies Championship game at Woodstock and Adam Jones scored in his 56th straight NLL game
The Kincardine Bulldogs won the Western Junior C title in 7 while Julian Smith had a 2nd at the Junior Men's Nordic Nationals.
The Canadian Broomball Championships were staged in Owen Sound plus Dancemakers Bayleigh Hooper and Allanah Waller won provincial titles in gymnastics
The Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame had 11 new entries and Katie Sauks emerged as a top Canadian rower.
James Boulter swims to gold at the long course swim meet and Owen Sound Minor Hockey goes Local League.
" Wildwild Men " wins the Dream of Glory at Hanover Raceway.
Coach Ryan Hood departs from the Owen Sound Aquatic Club. Blake Mackey wins the Grey Bruce Junior Golf Tour.
The Wiarton Nationals won the Bluewater Fastball League title while Danny Mijovic won the Cobble Beach Pro Am.
The St Mary's Mustangs won the Bluewater Football crown shutting out Owen Sound District in the final.
Attack Netminder Michael McNiven was cut by Team Canada's World Junior entry and the Wiarton Rock folded.
