Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Today isn't so much about a change in sports or about a departing sporting venue, but rather a lament that time moves on.
After the Summer of 2017, I'll have one less option for swimming as the city is supporting the recommendation to alter the Harrison Park Pool.
In a nutshell, the deeper of the two pools at the complex will be filled in and turned into deck space.
And that's too bad.
Somewhere around 2003, I did a gig for the Festival of Northern Lights and as compensation, Doug McKee and the committee " paid " me with a membership to the Pool.
That Summer, I swam day after day after day, and the process continued for most of the next 13 years.
I called it " my " pool and giggled about my private staff of lifeguards who not only monitored my puddling, but also kept the pool sparkling clean.
But time marched on and renovations to the deep pool would be extremely expensive, and thus what I considered a real gem for the city of Owen Sound will be no more.
I get it, but I'll certainly miss the deep end of the Harrison Park Pool
I'm Fred Wallace
