Mustangs Host GCVI In CWOSSA Semifinal Thursday
Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic- the Logical Choice.
Tomorrow is a big football day, the biggest that I can recall certainly for the city of Owen Sound.
The CWOSSA Playdowns continue at Victoria Park when the St Mary's Mustangs host Guelph Collegiate in a semifinal match.
St Mary's won the Bluewater title going undefeated through the regular season and then blanking the Owen Sound District Wolves in the championship final.
The Green Gaels won the District 10 crown with a narrow 38-37 win over the St James Lions.
The Mustangs have home field advantage, but I'd suggest they are the underdogs in the matchup if only because players in larger centres like Guelph have better access to Spring leagues and city leagues.
So be it.
The significant factor to me is that for the first time in my memory the playoff game will be staged at Victoria Park.
I've seen a couple of CWOSSA games at Saugeen District in Port Elgin through the years and was impressed by both the play on the field and the atmosphere around the game from the student body.
Tomorrow should be no different at St Mary's, at Victoria Park and in Owen Sound.
Kickoff time for the Green Gaels and Mustangs is 1 pm.
I'm Fred Wallace
