Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Is it too early in the Ontario Hockey League season to have a BIG game ?...... Or BIG games ?
Tonight in Owen Sound, the Attack meet the Guelph Storm in the opener of a home and home series.
The rematch goes Friday at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph.
Both clubs sit at 12 points on the season, essentially tied for 8th in the Western Conference.
I recognize we're only at the 1/5th mark of the season, but in my view Guelph at Owen Sound followed by Owen Sound at Guelph carries a lot of meaning.
For Guelph, they're coming off a rare non-playoff season.
In the early going this year, the Storm won 3 out of 4, then promptly lost 6 straight, but now come in to Owen Sound having picked up points in their last 3 games to pull into a tie with the Attack.
For the Attack, as we mentioned last week, it's been backstep, forward, sideways
Over the first dozen games, Owen Sound has been outshot just twice.
In some cases Owen Sound has outplayed the opposition badly and outshot the opposition by 30 or more shots... yet the record says 6 & 6.
So two divisional foes, tied in the standings, one trying to find their way back, the other somewhat puzzled to be at .500, meet back to back, first this evening in Owen Sound then Friday night at Guelph
I'd say they're BIG games.
