Junior B Lacrosse Openers

Fred

By Fred Wallace

The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse season opens tonight with games at Hamilton, at Guelph & at Wallaceburg.

Tomorrow, the season commences for the Owen Sound Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars when they play their home opener against the Windsor A.K.O. Fratmen at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center.

Owen Sound's opener is against the team they eliminated last year in the first round of the playoffs and from every regard, that's a good way to start the season.

Windsor will be motivated to avenge the loss.

The NorthStars know they'll be in a against a quality opponent and truthfully, they need to start the season well, because even sight unseen, you suspect the MidWest Division with Elora, Orangeville & Guelph will be battlefield once again.

Speaking this week, NorthStars coach Shawn Kazarian is confident in the defensive abilities of his club with a mostly returning crew of defenders and netminders.

Up front, Kazarian believes there will be enough to pop to win their share of games and make those games entertaining.
Llast weekend, Owen Sound went 1 & 1 at the Mohawk Pre-season tourney, beating Windsor, but losing to Elora.

For a variety of reasons, Coach Kazarian says those results don't matter much, not today, and what matters most for the NorthStars starts tomorrow
