I'm really backtracking here, but I want to go back to last week & last weekend, to the OHF Peewee " A " Hockey Championship in Owen Sound.
On the ice, the Kitchener Junior Rangers won it all, blanking the Orillia Terriers 2-0 in a great final.
The field of teams, certainly in the Final 4, were very well matched, and there was very little to choose amongst the 4 teams that made the semifinals.
Each of the Final 4 teams could make a legitimate case that they could have, or should have, won it all.
The Owen Sound Harold Sutherland Construction Attack were eliminated by Kitchener in the semifinal, losing 3-1, and I know they'd like to have the first period of that game back.
But otherwise, you have to commend the Peewee Attack for their performance and hard work.
Likewise, to Brian Seaman and Grant Oldrieve of Owen Sound Minor Hockey, and to all the people that worked with them, or for them, it was a great Owen Sound experience.
The rink staff, the banquet, guest speaker Mike Stothers and the atmosphere, made this event far more than " peewee " in calibre.
I'm sure the OHF, if not the OMHA, the GTHL, the Alliance and the NOHA, would like to have many more events here in Owen Sound.
But since it's been almost 2 decades between OHF stops in Owen Sound, we look forward to the next event, which should roll around in 2030.
Til then, ' well done ' , Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group.
