It's so nice to be back in Owen Sound after a week away.
Trust me, I can't be trusted when I say that.
Last week, my buddy, Whitey, & I spent 5 days based in Niagara Falls, Ontario which was the hinge point for a week in which we saw 4 hockey games in 4 nights.
Wednesday in Buffalo, the Sabres came from behind to beat Montreal 3-2 in a shootout.
Thursday in St Catharines, we watched the OHL Ice Dogs avoid elimination, defeating the Ottawa 67's in game 4 of their playoff series.
Friday, back to Buffalo, where a solid start propelled the Ottawa Senators to a 4-2 win over the Sabres.
Saturday, again at the HSBC in Buffalo, the Sabres smoked Tampa Bay 7-1.
Yesterday, we considered, ever so briefly, attending Junior games at Brampton & then Alliston, but enough is enough. Maybe next year.
There are many, many, many things I could tell you about the junket, and those details will slide out in the days ahead. On that you can trust me.
But for now, let me once again HIGHLY recommend Buffalo as an NHL destination, with Niagara Falls as headquarters, especially in the spring.
Easy access, accessible hockey tickets, good roads, great accommodations, minimal limitations- especially on a Monday through Friday basis, terrific scenery, casinos ( if you're so inclined ), and the widest variety of eateries I've encountered in quite some time.
Very good week overall, and as you can imagine, it's a thrill to be back.
