Lonnnnng Weekend

By Fred Wallace

Long holiday weekend with lots of things on the go.

As a primer, Game 3 of the OLA Senior Lacrosse Playoffs goes tonight at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre between the defending Canadian Champion Owen Sound van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen and Brooklin.

Game time is 8:30. We'll see you there.

Tomorrow, the richest race in the county, the annual " Dream of Glory " at Hanover Raceway is set to go.

A purse of $ 100,000 is on the line and there's always a great crowd for the big race and the spectacular fireworks that follow.

We'll see you there.

And then, for a second consecutive year, the Canadian Junior Men's Fastball Championship Tournament returns to Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound.

Eleven teams are in the field including the Owen Sound Brick Brothers Volkswagen Junior Selects who finished third at the Championship in their initial season one year ago.

Play starts Sunday morning at 10 am when Sooke, B.C. faces Leduc, Alberta.

The Opening Ceremonies are set for 5:30 Sunday afternoon and then at 6:30 pm Sunday, Brick Brothers hit the field against Fingal, Ontario

There's action virtually all day everyday through August the 9th and when the last put out is made, we wonder if Owen Sound won't have another National Champion.

We'll see you there.
