ISC Eastern Canada Travel League Tournament

By Fred Wallace

The ISC Eastern Canada Travel League Fastball Championship Tournament goes this weekend in Owen Sound.

The two day championship begins tonight around 7 pm at Duncan McLellan Park and runs through the Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Five teams will compete over the two days including both entries from the Selects; the Verge Investment Senior Selects & the Brick Brothers Volkswagen Junior Selects.

The Palermo Athletics and the Wyevale Tribe are also in the mix.

But the favorite of the five might just be the Port Elgin Blue Devils.

After years of romping through the Bluewater League, the Blue Devils made the decision to elevate their level of competition in the ISC League in 2009.

Port Elgin has been far more than competitive in their maiden voyage, with a winning record at the ISC level and some convincing victories along the route.

Yes, there is much disappointment about the chute pull executed by both St Thomas and Jarvis, I mean how can you have a League where teams can opt out of the Championship ?

Nevertheless,  the weekend provides a number of opportunities for the entries involved in terms of competing in a meaningful tournament and honing their games for even bigger games ahead.

There are 3 games tonight, 6 tomorrow with the Championship Game set for 3 pm.

See you at the ballpark for the ISC League Championship Tournament.
