Owen Sound Attack 4 Erie Otters 1

Attack 4 Otters 1

Nick Suzuki scored 3 times for the Attack who matched a season long 3 game win streak.

Erie underage Hayden Fowler opened the scoring 11 minutes into the contest after a dazzling move to get in on Attack netminder Mack Guzda.

The play required a lengthy video review but the Fowler marker stood.

Suzuki tied the game 7 minutes on a powerful drive to the net.

Midway through the 2nd period, Suzuki struck again. His linemates Alan Lyszczarczyk and Kevin Hancock buzzed around the Otters end and Suzuki was able to pounce on a rebound of Hancock's shot to give Owen Sound a 2-1 lead.

In the 3rd period, a nifty move around the goal crease by overage Ethan Szypula on a power play gave the Attack a 2 goal wedge.

Suzuki completed his hat trick with an empty net marker, outracing and holding off an Otters defender to seal the win.

The three goals by Suzuki give him 88 in his OHL career. That mark is good for 9th all time among Owen Sound goal scorers. The all time leader for Owen Sound is Bobby Ryan with 133.

Underage netminder Mack Guzda got the win in goal, his 3rd straight victory and his 10th of the year. Guzda made 23 saves in the win, leaving him 1 win shy of the franchise record for wins by an underage netminder (11) set by Jamie Storr in 1991-92.

With the win, the Attack move to 45 points on the year, building a 10 point gap over Erie for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Attack will be at London Friday night ( 7 pm for Terry's Trailer Service-Kia of Owen Sound Bearadio on CFOS ) and then home to Guelph on Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
