Georgian College students will shine shoes & cars to raise money for research & support.

A big fund raising event is underway today in Owen Sound.

It's the annual Shinerama for cystic fibrosis.

Students at the Owen Sound Campus of Georgian College will be shining shoes, cars, and anything else that
can be shined, in return for donations at 20 different locations.

This is the 36th year Georgian has been involved in Shinerama.

It is on from 8:30 until 3 p.m.

There is an opening event at the Owen Sound Campus at 9am, and between 10 am and 4 p.m., students will be involved in car wash activities at Heritage Place Shopping Centre.

As part of a partnership, Georgian students will also be shining boots for members of the Owen Sound Police and Fire services.

Cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults.

At the present time there is no cure.
