Baycats Get Lucky 13
Guerrero allowed 2 hits over 7 innings with 11 strikeouts in win over Burlington.
It is 13 and counting for the Barrie Baycats.
They remain unbeaten in the Intercounty Baseball League season after a 10-3 victory over the Burlington Herd on Tuesday.
No scoring until the bottom of the third when the Baycats took advantage of the wildness of Herd starter Ryan Beckett scoring 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.
Barrie would score four more in the 4th sending 10 men to the plate in that inning highlighted by a 2-run single from catcher Ryan Rijo.
Another rookie, infielder Claudio Custodio, went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and one RBI.
Outfielder Ryan Spataro finished with 4 hits and scored 3 times while starter Emilis Guerrero surrendered 2 hits over 7 scoreless innings, striking out 11.
Justin Gideon reached base three times (1 hit, 2 walks) and scored a run for the Herd (5-10).
The same two teams will hit the field Thursday night in Burlington.
