Local Players Going to OHL Teams
Mitchell Russell of Collingwood was taken 20th overall by the Owen Sound Attack.
A number of local hockey players born in 2001 were taken in this year's OHL Priority Selection.
The highest drafted player was forward Mitchell Russell from Barrie -- originally from Collingwood -- taken in the first round, 20th overall, to the Owen Sound Attack.
The Erie Otters were next to pick after the Attack and they chose forward Emmitt Sproule from Nottawa.
Another Collingwood native -- defenseman Eric Lalonde -- went to the Oshawa Generals in the fourth round (74th overall).
The Sarnia Sting took Will Redick -- a forward from Stayner -- in the 12th round (228th overall).
