The Progressive Conservative MPP for Huron-Bruce says she's looking forward to her new critic responsibilities at Queen's Park.
Thompson is now the Tory Critic for International Trade, and Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, following a recent shuffle of the Opposition shadow cabinet.
She moves from her previous shadow portfolio of Environment and Climate Change.
Thompson says she's ready for the responsibility both assignments will bring.
She will be looking to expand opportunities on the global stage for local and province-wide exports to help business, agriculture and the agri-food industry prosper.
Her appointment comes at a critical time, as American President Donald Trump seeks to take his country out of the Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership, and to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Thompson says she will work closely with Ontario's First Nations in her Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation post.
She points out that her goal in that portfolio is to foster greater understanding of Aboriginal concerns, and to have the province work more closely with Indigenous governments.
