Changes to Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling

Regional | by Megan Johnson

BASWR will no longer sort recyclables by hand, both at their facility and curb side

Residents are being asked to hold onto their recyclables.

To protect its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling (BASWR) will no longer sort recyclables by hand, both at their facility and curb side.

In Saugeen Shores, materials will still be picked up on their normal recycling day, but will be sent to the landfill temporarily.

Arran-Elderslie and the Municipality of Brockton have chosen to cancel their recycling for the time being.

BASWR says they're working on a longer-term solution to find a place that can accept the unsorted material,  and has made a request for area residents to hold onto to their recyclables for the time being.

In addition the Southampton Landfill is closed to the public.

The Town of Saugeen Shores says account holders will be allowed access on March 27 and April 3 from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm only and recommends curbside garbage collection on your regular day.
