Police Report Results of Canada Road Safety Week

Grey Bruce | by Matt Hermiz

Municipal police officers in Grey Bruce issued over 100 tickets.

Police in Grey and Bruce counties handed out over 100 traffic tickets during Canada Road Safety Week.

The May 14-20 enforcement campaign saw the municipal police services in Grey Bruce -- including Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores, West Grey and Hanover -- partner to combat speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving and fatigued driving.

Police say 111 tickets were handed out in all, while 1,338 drivers were checked at RIDE stops. Three impaired driving charges were laid as a result.

West Grey Police say this initiative was part of a national effort to make Canada’s roadways the safest in the world.
