Georgian Bluffs Candidate Q & A

Georgian Bluffs | by Matt Hermiz

Bayshore Broadcasting asked municipal candidates where they stand on some key issues

To help inform you on the platforms of candidates running for mayor and council in the upcoming municipal election, Bayshore Broadcasting News reached out to all those seeking office in municipalities across Grey and Bruce counties.

Each local municipality will be posted daily over the the next week.

In Georgian Bluffs, candidates Tom Waller, Paul Sutherland, Candice Newmaster, Grant Pringle, Craig Sanderson and Mac Boulter did not respond to correspondences from Bayshore Broadcasting.

Candidate Christian Bernard Singer said he had to bow out due to other obligations.

There is no deputy mayor's race, as Sue Carleton is acclaimed to the office.

You can access the answers provided by each candidate by clicking on his or her name below.

Here are the questions we asked:

1) Yes or No: Should Georgian Bluffs allow bricks-and-mortar marijuana shops to operate in its boundaries? Why?

2) Yes or No: Do you support the continued municipal ownership of the Wiarton Keppel International Airport and the Biodigester? If yes, or no, why?

3) Yes or No: Do you support the creation of a new combined fire service with the Inter Township Fire Department and the Owen Sound Fire Department, if there is no added cost to ratepayers?

4) Yes or No: Do you believe Georgian Bluffs should develop a central downtown core? If yes, where and what is your plan. If no, why?

5) What is one other issue facing Georgian Bluffs you would like to speak to, and how will you address this if elected?
