Kings Win Their Junior B Opener
Boyd and Goodchild each with 9 points for Orillia in victory over Mississauga.
No shortage of goals for the Orillia Experience Nissan Kings.
They opened up with a 7-0 first period lead and went on to beat the Mississauga Tomahawks 16-9 Saturday night in their first game of the Junior B lacrosse season.
Trent Boyd led the scoring for the Kings with 7 goals and 2 assists, three of the goals coming in that first period.
Cole Hanrahan (2 goals, 2 assists) and Teagan Meredith (2 goals, 1 assist) also had multi-goal games for the Kings (1-0-0).
Tyler Goodchild chipped in with 9 assists and Michael Montgomery had 5.
Mississauga were led by Gareth Haigh (6 goals, 2 assists) and Ryan Haigh (1 goal, 7 assists).
Six of the Tomahawks' (0-2-0) goals came on the power play (6-for-13), Orillia finished 4-for-12.
The next game for the Kings is Sunday afternoon when they travel to Brampton to battle the Excelsiors.
